Who Won El Grande Americano Mask vs. Mask Match at AAA: Noche de Los Grandes?

On Saturday night at the Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico, one of the biggest matches in AAA history took place when the two men known as El Grande Americano faced off in a classic mask vs. mask match to decide who would control the moniker once and for all.

Heading into this weekend’s AAA: Noche de Los Grandes card, the ongoing feud between El Grande Americano (WWE’s Ludvig Kaiser) and the OG El Grande Americano (Fellow WWE star Chad Gable) has captured the hearts and minds of AAA fans.

When Gable created the character last year, it was meant to mock the lore of Mexican luchadors in WWE and AAA. However, when he suffered a torn rotator cuff in June, an unexpected path was created that has turned Kaiser into a legitimate star in Mexico.

After taking over the mantle of El Grande Americano later that month, it looked like he would just continue where Gable left off in WWE and AAA. However, a storm of unexpected elements occurred that grew his popularity.

Fans first turned on El Hijo del Vikingo because he was viewed as WWE’s chosen one after they purchased the company in 2025. Dominik Mysterio emerged as a beloved heel because of his character and lineage. El Grande Americano allied with Mysterio against Vikingo. And the native of Germany embraced speaking Spanish and the culture to make his character more authentic.

Instead of just being a WWE Gringo, fans endorsed him and his new version of the character over the last eight months. In that time, he has emerged as one of the brand’s biggest stars. His ongoing feud with Gable following his return in January has taken his fame to new heights as the hate has felt real and even involved El Grande Americano’s real-life love interest, AAA interviewer Andrea Bazarte.

The epic feud came to a head on Saturday night in a mask vs. mask match to see who would be the only El Grande Americano. The bout completely lived up to expectations. The crowd in Monterrey was fantastic. There was violence, blood, run-ins, and a great display of lucha libre.

In the end, the fan-favorite El Grande Americano was victorious, and the OG version was unmasked. Of course, Gable was underneath it. Below, you can check out some of the top highlights from the mask vs. mask match at AAA: Noche de Los Grandes.
