Vote for the Hometeam Baseball Player of the Week, presented by the YMCA of Central Mass.

There were plenty of tremendous performances last week in the Central Mass. baseball season, and Tommy Cassell found some of the best of them for readers to vote on to decide the Hometeam Softball Player of the Week.

Congratulations to Leicester's Matt Alves for taking the top spot in last week's poll, recording 4,462 votes (48.3 percent) to get past Lunenburg's Brady Kelly (2,340 votes) and Lunenburg's Brett Richard (929 votes) for the honor.

These picks were selected from performances reported by area coaches to the Hometeam Scoreboard. Coaches or administrators are encouraged to report game results and highlights each night by calling the T&G sports desk at 508-793-9350 or emailing sports@telegram.com.

Adam Adams, Quabbin

Adams allowed one earned run and struck out eight in a complete-game effort and went 3 for 4 with two runs and an RBI to propel the visiting Panthers to a 5-3 win ove Cohasset in a Division 4 preliminary matchup.

Andrew Beauregard, Gardner

Beauregard allowed just two hits and struck out five in a complete-game shutout and also drove in his team’s lone run in a 1-0 win over Lunenburg in the MIAA tournament.

Blake Freitas, Hudson

Freitas blasted a solo homer and scored three runs to help the visiting Hawks beat rival Marlborough, 13-2, to wrap up winning a Mid-Wach League title.

Will Gage, Oakmont

Gage allowed a run on five hits with no walks and four strikeouts while adding an RBI double in the first and a run-scoring squeeze in the third to lead the visiting Spartans past BVT, 3-3, in a Division 3 preliminary matchup.

Drew Laidley, AMSA

Laidley doubled and scored for AMSA and pitched the final 2.1 innings and earned the win while striking out three in the Eagles’ 4-3 win over Sutton in a Divisoin 4 preliminary game.

Jackson Lucarelli, St. John’s

Lucarelli was 2 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs as the host Pioneers defeated Diman, 20-0, in five innings of a Division 1 first round game.

Will Molloy, Maynard

Molloy threw 106 pitches (77 for strikes) and fanned 16 hitters while allowing three unearned runs on two hits over seven innings to lead the Tigers to a 4-3 win over Wareham in a Division 5 first round game.

Ryder Meagher, Northbridge

Meagher led the way with two hits, one RBI and three runs as the Rams held off Mystic Valley, 12-10, to move on in the Division 4 playoffs.

Danny Nelson, Leominster

Nelson struck out 10 over seven innings as the visiting Blue Devils beat Franklin, 6-3, in a Division 1 first round game.

Ian Ouelette, Grafton

Oueltte delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to propel the host No. 13 Gators to a 3-2 victory over Somerset Berkley in a Division 2 first round game.

Jack Pitro, West Boylston

This sophomore went 2 for 3 with a homer and four RBIs to propel the host No. 10 Lions to a 9-1 victory over No. 23 Turner Falls in a Division 5 first round game.

Liam Richard, Groton-Dunstable

Richard recorded five strikeouts in five scoreless innings as the Crusaders collected a 4-0 win over Worcester Tech in a Division 3 MIAA tournament preliminary game. Richard then doubled in his team’s playoff loss to Hudson.

Blake Rosborough, Uxbridge

Rosborough recorded 6.2 scoreless innings of relief as the visiting 23rd-seeded Spartans came from behind to upset No. 10 Oxford, 4-3, in a Division 4 first round game.

Noah Smith, Hopedale

Smith went 4 for 5 with a three-run homer, double, three runs and four RBIs to lead the host Blue Raiders to a 12-0 victory over Hull in a Division 5 first round game.
