Lazio midfielder Danilo Cataldi is gunning for a swift return to action after undergoing surgery to repair a groin issue.
Danilo Cataldi Undergoes Surgery
After his return from a loan spell at Fiorentina, the 31-year-old became a regular feature in Maurizio Sarri’s starting lineup, especially with Nicolo Rovella ruled out with a long-term groin injury. But unlike the Genoa youth product, who initially opted for an alternative therapy before succumbing to surgery, Cataldi has immediately decided to go under the knife.

The Lazio youth product was keen to avoid Rovella’s fate and spend months on the sidelines, so he opted for a quick solution. The Italian flew to Spain after choosing Dr Cugat as his surgeon. The latter is an expert in orthopaedic surgery. The midfielder announced that the surgery was successful, and he’s now determined to return to the pitch as soon as possible.
Cataldi Aiming to Be Available for the Start of Lazio Pre-Season
According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Cataldi is hoping to join his teammates in training when pre-season begins. The Biancocelesti players are expected to report to Formello by July 10 for the medical tests, before they start training under their incoming head coach, Gennaro Gattuso, by July 13.
The central midfielder is expected to be in Gattuso’s plans for next season. But with his contract expiring in June 2027, his long-term future remains far from certain.
