For the Kentucky Wildcats baseball team, last season ended in a disappointing loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers in a game where 12 runs wasn't enough. On Saturday, the Cats got a bit of revenge, beating West Virginia in their home park 11-9.
Just like last year, offense would define the game for both teams. In just two innings, Kentucky would jump out to a 6-0 lead, but it wouldn't last, and the Mountaineers would tie it in the fifth. It would be tied again in the eight before Kentucky scored three runs to go ahead for good.

Luke Lawrence had two hits on the day and drove in the game winner. Ethan Hindle drove in three runs on two hits of his own. Hudson Brown also drove in two. Lawrence and Tyler Bell scored three runs apiece.
Pitchers for both teams had a tough day. Jack Bennett was terrific, though, in pitching the final four innings for the Wildcats. He was credited with the win.
Kentucky will play either Wake Forest or West Virginia in a rematch on Sunday.
