Kai Havertz makes history despite Arsenal defeat

Kai Havertz etched his name into Champions League history after opening the scoring for Arsenal against PSG in Saturday's final.

The German international became just the third player to score in Champions League finals for two different clubs.

Havertz netted the winner for Chelsea in the 2021 final against Manchester City, and he was on target again on the biggest stage five years later.

However, his early strike ultimately proved in vain as PSG came out on top in a penalty shoot-out after the sides could not be separated over 120 minutes.

Only two other players have managed the feat of scoring in Champions League finals for different clubs. Cristiano Ronaldo found the net in finals for both Manchester United and Real Madrid, while Mario Mandzukic scored for Bayern Munich and Juventus.

In the modern Champions League era, which began in 1992/93, only nine players have scored in multiple finals. Alongside Havertz, Ronaldo and Mandzukic, the list includes Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale, Raúl González, Samuel Eto'o, Sergio Ramos and Vinícius Júnior.
