French club register interest in fringe Barcelona midfielder; player has other offers

Having already announced the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, it is clear that Barcelona have started the summer earlier than most clubs.

However, as the club look to land other top targets, including Julian Alvarez, who is keen on a move to Camp Nou, they must bring in fresh sources of revenue and therefore, player exits could be key.

To Barcelona’s fortune, one of their fringe stars appears to be closing in on an exit, in the form of Ansu Fati, with AS Monaco reportedly reaching an agreement worth around €11 million.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Fati is not the only player AS Monaco are interested in, as the name of Marc Casado was also discussed during the meeting that took place between Jorge Mendes.

This is an interesting development for Casado, as the Spaniard has completely fallen out of favour with Barcelona and is unlikely to be a part of Hansi Flick’s plan for next season.

At Monaco, the midfielder could find a new lease of life under the leadership of new coach Filipe Luis and thrive alongside his fellow La Masia brethren Fati.

Casado, for his part, though, has no shortage of options as Monaco are not the only club interested in his services.

The young midfielder has been approached by Saudi Arabia as well as some clubs from Europe. He now has to decide whether these offers are suitable enough for him.

The introduction of Monaco is a net positive for Barcelona, as the Ligue 1 giants can entice the midfielder with European football.

The coming weeks, therefore, could be critical as Casado looks to take the next step in his career.
