The Detroit Lions are adding another experienced set eyes to the front office.
The Lions hired former Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier as a personnel executive, ESPN reported.
Grier was fired as Dolphins GM last October after more than two decades with the team. He began his scouting career with the New England Patriots in 1995 and joined the Dolphins five years later.

In Miami, Grier served as director of college scouting before taking over as GM in 2016. The Dolphins made three playoff appearances during Grier's 10 seasons as general manager.

Lions general manager Brad Holmes has surrounded himself with veteran personnel executives, though the Lions' front office has suffered some brain drain in recent years.
Former Lions director of college scouting Dave Sears left to become Arizona Cardinals assistant general manager in 2023. Lance Newmark, the team's senior director of player personnel, left for the assistant GM job with the Washington Commanders in 2024. And Mike Martin, the Lions director of scouting advancement, took over as Notre Dame general manager last year.
Grier is the second ex-NFL GM in the Lions' front office, along with senior personnel executive John Dorsey, the GM of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013-17 and Cleveland Browns in 2017-19.
