Giannis Antetokounmpo jokes about what stopped him from making the Premier League

Giannis Antetokounmpo has never hidden his affection for soccer, but his latest claim still landed with swagger. A day after the Champions League final, he played at the Puskas Arena.

The Milwaukee Bucks superstar shared footage from a casual match in Budapest, showing touch, power and competitive instinct. Then he delivered the line that turned a light clip into a talking point.

“People don’t know how good I am. I’m telling you, if I played and I wasn’t 6’11” – if I was like 5’5” or 5’6” – I would have easily made it to the Premier League. I’m very competitive as you can see,” he stated.

Some fans agree on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s bold statement

The reaction matched the confidence. One fan said: “Definitely have it in your locker. Some PL players even struggle to direct a header like that.”

Another argued: “Bro, you are perfect for CB or CDM,” while a third fan wanted a soccer match between his team and Luka Doncic’s team.

That soccer connection has roots. Antetokounmpo has said he dreamed of becoming a soccer star when he was young, partly because his father, Charles, had played the sport.

And that bond is not only sentimental. Giannis and his brothers became minority owners of Nashville SC in 2023, adding a formal MLS connection to the family story.

He also backed Arsenal in the Champions League final, with Thierry Henry described as his idol, but Arsenal lost to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Budapest.
