The Boston Red Sox traded David Hamilton as part of the deal to acquire Caleb Durbin last offseason. Hamilton has started to unlock his full potential with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Hamilton started 138 games for the Red Sox in three seasons. He was not a regular player, but he had great tools, most notable of which was his speed. However, on the Red Sox, he never really found a way to utilize that skill to become a productive offensive player. He has started 43 of the 47 games he has played in Milwaukee, and his speed is starting to become a real factor.

In three seasons with the Red Sox, Hamilton had just five bunt hits. On Monday night, he recorded his 10th bunt hit of the season. He leads all of baseball in that category, but it is a microcosm of the player he is becoming.

The Brewers have been playing him more at third base. He appeared at third base just once with the Red Sox. Hamilton has a plus-one outs above average at third base.

The Brewers have found a way to maximize Hamilton's skillset to make him a productive player. They have also continued to tweak his swing to make him a better hitter. He's only hitting .239, but his exit velocities have been better as of late. In his last 15 games, he is slashing .262/.326/.405.

Hamilton has also made a pair of sensational catches in the last two weeks. He has benefited from regular at-bats and the Brewers' changes. The Red Sox gave up Kyle Harrison and Shane Drohan in the same trade. All three players have been great for the Brewers. Meanwhile, Durbin got off to a very slow start, but he is showing improvement as of late.
