Every Summer, there’s speculation about who will make the cover of everyone’s favorite sports video games, whether it’s NBA 2K or Madden, but maybe the most intriguing debate each year is for the College Football game. EA Sports College Football 27 releases on July 9th. The cover was officially released this morning, and it gives all the Summer vibes possible.
The backdrop features a sunset-style view with fireworks in the background, which perfectly matches the game’s release date, just five days after July 4th. The most important part of the cover isn’t the backdrop, though; it’s who’s on it.

Dante Moore, quarterback, Oregon
Arguably the best quarterback in the country, Oregon’s Dante Moore is featured on the right side of the cover. After the 2025 season, it was unclear whether Moore would return to college or not, as he would’ve likely been the No. 2 overall pick by the New York Jets.

Dante Moore elected to stay at Oregon for a final season to further boost his draft stock and run it back under head coach Dan Lanning in pursuit of a National Championship.
Malachi Toney, wide receiver, Miami
One of the best wide receivers in the country is featured in the middle of the cover, holding up the iconic U hand sign. Malachi Toney burst onto the scene last year, being the most electric yards after catch weapon in the country and ending the season just short of a national title in his true freshman year.

Toney is entering 2026 with an even better QB in Duke transfer Darian Mensah, and is undoubtedly a top-three receiver in the country, right there with Jeremiah Smith and Cam Coleman.
Kewan Lacy, running back, Ole Miss
A clear top three running back in all of College Football, Kewan Lacy was a breakout star in 2025 who wasn’t on everyone’s radar coming into the season. After a season in which Lacy posted 303 carries, 1,567 rushing yards, and 24 touchdowns. Lacy ranked in the top three nationwide for all three of those stats.
Kewan Lacy enters his final year of College Football under a new coaching staff, so the big question will be whether the production can be maintained under a new staff and new roster around him.
