Pittsburgh relied on its offense on Tuesday, as the Pirates hit three home runs, which is the ninth-straight game the team has hit at least one home run. Oneil Cruz homered in a four-run sixth inning, while Brandon Lower and Endy Rodriguez also hit home runs, to help the Pirates cruise to a 10-6 win over the Astros on the road.

“To be able to hit the home runs was great,” Pittsburgh manager Don Kelly said postgame on Tuesday. “Cruz with the three-run and Lowe with the three-run homer. Endy got a hold of that one, too. I thought that throughout the game, our at-bats were great. Top to bottom, everyone continuing to grind out the at-bats and keep the line moving and get to the point where we are able to get guys on base to hit those big home runs.”

The Pirates had 13 hits and walked eight times in the win over the Astros, and Kelly is pleased with the team’s at-bats.

“I thought our at-bats were really good,” Kelly said. “We were able to put pressure on the defense through the way we ran the bases and then to put it all together with the home runs. I thought offensively we had a really great game.”

Lowe, meanwhile, believes everyone is feeding off each other’s success, showing that hitting is contagious.

“Hitting is contagious no matter which way you put it, whether it is home runs or singles or doubles or whatnot,” Lowe said. “When the bats are hot, I feel like everyone is kind of racing to the bat rack to get up there.”

With the win, the Pirates are now 33-28 and in second place in the NL Central. Pittsburgh is holding onto a Wild Card spot and has won four straight games.
