The Miami Dolphins took offensive lineman Jonah Savaiinaea in the second round (No. 37 overall) of the 2025 NFL draft. After playing right guard at Arizona, Miami moved him to left guard during his rookie season.
In 17 games as a rookie, Savaiinaea received a 28.4 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, which was the worst of 81 qualified players at the position.

With Miami taking Kadyn Proctor in the first round of this year's draft and plugging him in at left guard, Savaiinaea is flipping back to his natural position in 2026. This decision already looks to be the right one, as one of Savaiinaea's teammates is already seeing the difference.
"Absolutely. Like he's very comfortable in that right guard spot," Aaron Brewer said after a recent minicamp session. "And me personally, being a guy that played like multiple positions, I didn't think it was like that big of a difference. But him going back to that right guard spot, it looked like you can tell he is a right guard. Just the development, if y'all been seeing him as well, like just in the drills and the team run, team pass, he looked good out there. I'm excited for him."
If Savaiinaea can play up to his potential as a second-round pick, and the rest of the group remains healthy, the Dolphins could have one of the best offensive line units in the entire league, which could end up being great for Malik Willis and their stable of running backs.
